The Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF) of Gurucharan College, Silchar was established with the sole purpose of providing open access to students, researchers, scholars and faculty members for research and educational activities. The Bioinformatics Centre is in its 9th year of establishment and has constantly been achieving its goal by successfully conducting a significant number of trainings, seminars, demonstrations and outreach programmes. Since its inception, the centre has marched forward steadily and has created adequate facility for study and exchange of biological information among the students, researchers, faculties of nearby institutions. The centre has various collaborations with other BIFs of Assam and other north-eastern states for conducting seamless research activities and resource exchange.
Library
The Bioinformatics Centre has an established independent Library with more than 50 Books on Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology & Computer Programming and is utilized by the students, research scholars and faculty members.

The centre is having BBG super speed combo 5249 scheme of BSNL with a maximum speed of 24 mbps; this enables the user with easy and fast surfing of journals and other computational resources.
Journals
The centre has DELCON online journal access facility provided by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. Access to journals of Nature, Science, Springer, Elsevier, etc. are provided to students, research scholars and faculty members of the college.
